Festival of Colors 2015

Festival of Colors LA 2015

Colors, colors everywhere and just in one blink, boom your covered. There is no chance that if you attend a Holi Festival of Colors you will be leaving spotless, and why would you want to. The joy of this festival comes from the mess and craziness of being covered head to toe with color powder. With every step you walk through a pink bomb, a yellow grandee, purple firework, green dust bowl, and blue sprinkles. It is beautiful, it is fun, it is happiness, it is love.

The festival kicked off at 10 am on March 7 and from then on the grounds were dusted with a cloud of rainbows. At 11 my good friend Leon C. Lokah and I lead and hour long class through a warming yoga class to open everyones heart and prepare for the day. As the festivities progressed there was many performances including Kirtan chanting, yoga sessions, music performances, and much dancing. The food was tasted, the people friendly, and music invigorating. The day closed with Lokah and his Bhakti dance performance followed by a crowed jumping performance by Dub Kirtan All Stars. The combination of calming blessed sounds of Kirtan with the upbeat high energy cant help but jump to your feet electronic music was magical being.

From the young to the old all who came out had a smile stretching eat to colorful ear. Hope no one got too much color powder in their mouths. I know my noise was blowing out rainbows when I got home, and I cannot wait to do it again.
